Wine Clip Magnetic Wine Conditioner

wine-clip.jpg

OK, file this one under "gadgets we're not completely sold on" (sort of like the Wine Whisk). Here'sa clip you put on the neck of your wine bottle, and the creators claim it uses the power of magnetism to break up the tannins into smaller tannins or something like that, and give you a smoother taste.

There's all sorts of video on the site showing how it works and why it's great, but we're still not quite sold. We'll have to get our hands on one ourselves to really give it the old college try with a big old bottle o' plonk.

Wine Glass Steady Sticks

How many times have you been picnicking and accidentally knocked over your wine? OK, maybe not that many times, but isn't it time to think about solving that problem should it ever come up? Yeah, we thought so.

Welcome the Wine Whisk?

Aeration is important to many wines, but the actual act can be kind of a pain. Whether you're decanting it or just letting it breathe in the glass, you're probably like us and just want to drink it NOW! Enter the Wine Whisk, an aerator for the impatient.

The reviewer does mention some drawbacks to the Whisk - our first thought was the $20 price tag, and we weren't sure what it could do that a $2 whisk from a grocery store might - then we realized it doubles as a stopper, so if that's worth $18 to ya, get there.

Electronic Wine Bottle Vacuum Sealer

The folks over at Coolest Gadgets have gotten their hands on an electronic wine bottle sealer that you just stick on top of the bottle and turn on, and it works it hoodoo. It actually sounds pretty cool, but with the rarity of times we actually have to seal a bottle instead of just finishing it, we'll probably stick to our old manual vacuum pumps.

When you place the pump on your bottle it will automatically seal and tell you when it’s complete. There’s also a thermometer for the wine and some recommendations for what temperature is best for your fine bottle of wine. While it doesn’t look terribly big in the picture, it is. Not obnoxiously big, but bigger than your average wine sealer (or cork.)

Presorvac Wine Saver Plug-in

We didn't know this was possible, but apparently there are people out there who don't finish an entire bottle of wine in one sitting. That's something that's alien to us, but if that's your bag, hey...who're we to judge? If you're looking for a good way to store that pesky extra wine, check out the Presorvac - that's what we'd do if we ever ran into that problem.

The Epicurean Preservation System plug-in EPS Wine Saver creates a 100% natural seal for red or white wines in just seconds! It preserves wines at their optimum taste, color and aroma for up to 14 days longer than corked open bottles. The technologically advanced Wine Saver is engineered with five patent-pending features, offering a perfectly controlled and efficient method to preserving wines. Includes: 1 Wine Saver, Plug-in version, 2 Standard Wine Stoppers, 1 12V Adapter.

Cork Pops Wine Opener

We've never used them ourselves, but we have some wino friends who are big proponents of the screwless corkscrew. The usual method is to use a cartridge of compressed air, shove a needle into the cork, press a button, and force the top right out of the bottle. Sounds pretty simple to us - the only downside we can think of is you have to buy replacement cartridges of that air, while you don't have to refill the elbow grease you use with a regular corkscrew.

Still, it might be worth a try if you're a wine lover who doesn't like wrestling with the bottle.

Amazing Fish Corkscrew

fish-corkscrew.jpgWe saw one of these bad boys at a party and we were totally fascinated. We're not sure why, we just were. Maybe something to do with the fact that it expanded and contracted so effortlessly and convincingly - we had the damn thing swimming around the kitchen for a ridiculously long time. As in way longer than we should have.

But really, that's just us. This is a sharp-looking wine opening device, and we thought it worked pretty well too. Perfect for summer parties, wine on the boat, and entertaining your simple-minded guests.
